Why the attempted assassination of President Trump matters and what we must know.

We live in the freest country on God’s green earth, as Michael Medved would say. For over 248 years, America has existed as the experiment on freedom that has made it the greatest nation in world history. And what has made it so is not all the victories on the battlefield from 1776 through modern day warfare, but the peaceful transfer of power every four years.

Countries have marveled over the last two centuries at how a collective of different people, a soup of culture, nationalities, traditions and ethnicities could come together an unite on one simple principle: freedom is a right bestowed by God, not man. You see, anything man can give you; man can take away. However, what God gives you, no one can ever take away – though many have tried since recorded history.

Even more remarkable is the weapon of choice to fight the injustices that have always tried to creep their way into the fabric of our society – the ballot, your vote.

America: A Self-Correcting Country

You see, America is a self-correcting country. The wisdom of our forefathers foresaw that not all men and women are altruistic and cherish the greatest gift, freedom. There would be evil people who would try to bend our constitution, laws and bill of rights to their will. And to prevent that from ending our beloved republic, they would be given a short leash. That leash is only two years long.

Our government was created to mimic the Holy Trinity (President, the head or the Father; Congress, the teacher and guide, the Holy Spirit; and the Judicial or judge, Jesus Christ), with co-equal branches of government. So, if an evil person was able to fool the people and gain power, within two years the midterm elections would remove the support necessary to enact an agenda.

No matter what bad intentions a person may have, without control of the House of Representatives who manages the purse, and the Senate who writes the laws, an agenda can be nullified. All three must agree. Without a majority to back it, it will not succeed.

And while Executive Orders are a dance around the approval of Congress, with the same ease it took to invoke them, they can be revoked by the next person trusted with the solemn oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States – just two more short years later.

Violence Is Never the Answer

So, when we see the evil perpetrated on July 13^th in Butler, Pennsylvania, an attempt to assassinate former President Trump, it makes one wonder what sort of depraved mind would think that murder is a solution.

Whether you support President Biden or President Trump is not the issue. You see, we’ve had presidents on both sides of the coin and America continues to soldier on. We have had four years of President Trump and President Biden and know how they govern. Therefore, the reason who you support is not the issue is because it is NOT about the person in the Oval Office, but rather about “we the people” who decide who that person will be. We decide with our vote and can change any trajectory the country may be going in.

My prayer for our nation is that egos may cease, fear may flee, pride be humbled, that hatred and anger be calmed, and that we stop seeing our brothers and sisters as enemies. Understand we are one ginormous family with in-family fighting! On the greater scheme, we all want the same thing: a FREE America where we can live the life we want, exercise our rights to pursue happiness, and prosperity for ourselves and future generations.

We may disagree on some fundamentals, but the beauty is we can try them, and if they don’t work, we get a do over every four years. Therefore, let’s pray for our nation, may it be healed; let’s pray for President Trump and his family, may they be protected; and let’s pray for President Biden our leader, may he have good judgement and wisdom. Remember, if you do not agree with what you see, you can fight back on November 5^th with your ballot. May God continue to bless America!
